There is history of severe postpartum hemorrhage, shock or severe infection. Depending upon the degree of anterior pituitary necrosis, the features vary.
THE COMMON MANIFESTATIONS ARE:- failing lactation, loss of pubic and axillary hair, lethargy, hypotension, secondary amenorrhea and atrophy of the breasts and
genitalia. Gonadotropin level is low, so also T3, T4 and cortisol. The hormones affected in order of frequency are, growth hormone (GH), prolactin, gonadotropins (FSH and LH), TSH and ACTH. Hyponatremia may be present (30%). The syndrome may develop slowly over 8–10 years time.
Management: Replacement therapy with appropriate hormones including corticosteroid and thyroid are needed. Fertility can be achieved in these women with hMG and hCG.
Pulsatilla:-A top grade remedy for hormonal imbalance. Indicated when periods are irregular, suppressed or very scanty. The periods are also very painful, in such cases where Pulsatilla is suited to heal the hormonal imbalance.
Sepia:- One of the leading remedies for hormone imbalance with irregular periods. Alongwith menstrual troubles, complaints of facial hair and Infertility from PCOS are there. Also indicated for hormonal imbalance around Menopause.
Lachesis:- Where there is marked hot flushes from hormonal imbalance during menopause. Mental depression with aversion to meeting people and loss of interest in daily routine work is seen.
Ignatia:- An effective remedy for postpartum Hypopituitarism.
Conium Mac: - Most remarkable medicine for PMS due to hormone imbalance where breast pain, swelling and Tenderness is there.
Pituitary:- Used chiefly for its action on the uterus either to and in childbirth. There is cerebral Haemorrhage, vertigo, difficult mental concentration, congestive headache etc.
